Dekor makes great diaper pails. I love that they have a little door inside that snaps shut to seal in smells almost as well as competing cans like the Diaper Genie, but easily opens when you want to drop in a diaper.
What I don’t love is buying Dekor’s custom bags. They’re pricey, and they’re also scented. As a person who is sensitive to smells, I can’t have anything scented in the house. That’s why I like using the Dekor diaper pail with traditional trash bags.
How to Use a Normal Trash Bag with Dekor
To begin, press the button on the front to open the top, and then insert the bag around the little circle bag holder inside the can.
When the bag is secured, you can carefully close the lid. To make sure the bag is pulled all the way down, open the little side latch on the left of the pail, and pull the bag fully down.
Once done, close the latch, and you’re good to go.
Note that normal trash bags might not last as long as Dekor’s bags. But they’re usually cheaper and don’t have a built in scent, so that helps a lot in the long run.
You might want to engage Dekor’s lock after changing the bag. It’s right by the little trap door inside the pail. Keeping these kinds of tempting items secure is an important part of child proofing.
