How to Put Battery Into Craftsman V20 Handheld Vacuum

The Craftsman V20 handheld vacuum is a powerful and cheap vacuum cleaner. You can use it in your shop to pick up sawdust and the like, but I find it’s also great for cleaning up crumbs in the car.

It uses a standard V20 battery that can be used with all Craftsman V20 tools. In this blog post, we’ll explain how to install the battery into the handheld vacuum properly.

Here’s a video showing the process.

Installing the Battery

The first step in installing the battery is to orient it so that the tab used to remove the battery is facing up. You should be able to see a small track on the back of the vacuum.

The battery will only fit one way, so you should slide it in until it is nearly all the way into the track. To make sure the battery is properly secured, you may need to give it a light tap. You will know it is in place when you hear a click and see the tab pop down.

Align the battery tabs and press down until it clicks

Removing the Battery

To remove the battery, you will need to follow the same steps in reverse. Start by pushing down on the tab to release the battery, and then slide it off. The battery can be recharged using a standard V20 charger, and can easily be swapped between different tools.
