Changing the cover on a Pottery Barn Kids chair is an easy process that can be done in just a few steps–once you get the hang of it.
If you’ve never changed one before, then it’s often a massive pain in the tuckus and something that can take a solid hour to figure out.
This blog post will walk you through the process step-by-step so you can easily change the cover yourself. Now, you can actually wash the cover if (when) your child spills saucy pasta all over it!
Step 1: Remove the Four Foam Pieces
The first step is to flip the chair over and locate the zipper that goes around the width. Open up the zipper all the way to gain access to the inside.
There will be a velcro piece that is holding the bottom of the chair in place. Remove this piece. There will also be some fabric straps inside the chair that you can unhook.
Undo all the velcro, and take out all four pieces of the chair. There are two foam arms, the big foam bottom, and a square foam back.
Do not remove the casings that surround the foam.
Step 2: Put the New Cover On
Invert the new cover so the zipper is facing up. Open the zipper and take the back of the chair and push it down into the pocket at the rear of the cover. You can watch the video above to see exactly what I mean.
Make sure there is no excess fabric hanging over the top. Take the side pieces of the chair and insert them into the sides of the cover, forming the arms of the chair. Use the corresponding pieces of velcro to latch them in place.

Finally, take the big bottom piece of the chair and put it in the cover on top of everything else. Make sure to open up any fabric pieces that are blocking the big cushion from fitting in.
Step 3: Finishing Touches
Once all the pieces are in place, close the zipper. Flip the chair back over and make sure everything looks good and sturdy. Give the chair some final shape by mushing it around a bit and press it in to make sure the cover is secure.
And that is the process for changing the cover on a Pottery Barn Kids chair. With these easy steps, you can easily change the cover of your chair whenever you want.
