How to Reset Screen and CarPlay on Chrysler Pacifica Minivan

I love my Chrysler Pacifica Minivan. But the screen can be a pain.

When it works well, the ability to integrate with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is great. But sometimes, the screen can freeze, and my CarPlay won’t connect.

After driving the Pacifica (I have a 2022 model) for six months, I’ve found a simple way to reset the screen when it freezes.

Here’s my process.

1. Locate the Volume Button

The first step to resetting the screen on Chrysler Pacifica involves identifying the volume button on the dashboard. This button serves as a reset switch, and we’ll use it to troubleshoot the issue.

2. Press and Hold the Button

Press down on the volume button, keeping it held in place. This will initiate the reset process. Remember, patience is key – the process can take almost 30 seconds, which might feel longer than expected.

Hold the Volume button for 30+ seconds

3. Release the Button

Once the screen turns black, release the button. This means that the reset process has been initiated.

4. Wait for the Restart

After releasing the button, you will have to wait for the system to reboot. This process may take a couple of minutes, sometimes slightly less. You’ll see an initial warning message, followed by the system restarting, confirming that the reset was successful.

5. Reconnect your Device

After the system has restarted, you should be able to reconnect your phone. The process of reconnection should be smooth, and you should regain the use of CarPlay.

If your screen is still frozen or your CarPlay doesn’t connect, you may need additional troubleshooting or a visit to your local dealer.

Further Advice

  • It’s important to always be patient while waiting for the system to reboot. Rushing could further complicate the issues.
  • If your screen continues to malfunction, consider taking your vehicle to a certified Chrysler technician for a more thorough investigation.
