You went to Disneyland. You bought a bubble wand for your kid. You paid a fortune for it. And now they’ve played with it for so long that it’s out of battery.
You might be thinking that you’re out the $30+ for this little Disney contraption. Actually, though, it’s very easy to change the batteries on a Disney bubble wand.
Here’s how to do it. I made a little video to walk you through it.
Locating the Battery Compartment
The first step is to locate the battery compartment. While the location may vary based on the character wand, you’ll typically find it on the back. Look for a small screw securing the compartment; this is where we’ll begin.
Finding the Right Tool
To open the battery compartment, you’ll need a rather small screwdriver. Something from a glasses repair kit or any miniature screwdriver set would be ideal. Preparing the right tools beforehand always comes in handy.
Opening the Compartment
With your small screwdriver in hand, turn the screw counterclockwise (to the left), so that you can open the battery compartment. Be delicate as you do this since the screws used aren’t always of the highest quality.

Removing the Old Batteries
Once the compartment is open, remove the old batteries. Typically, these wands contain three batteries – two on top and another at the bottom. Carefully take these out and discard them.
Preparing the New Batteries
Next, you’ll need three fresh double A (AA) batteries. Remember, it’s not triple A (AAA), but double A (AA) that the wand uses. Lost in the magical world of Disney, such specifics often escape our minds!
Inserting the New Batteries
Now, begin the process of putting in the new batteries. The flat part of the battery will align against the springs inside the compartment. Following the placements of the old batteries, put the one in the middle first, followed by the others. You should hear a distinct ‘click’ sound indicating they are in place.
Closing the Compartment
Once the batteries are all in place, it’s time to secure the compartment. Replace the cover and put the screw back in place. Make sure to tighten it appropriately, but not too much, as we don’t want any damages.
Turn it On
After ensuring that everything is secure, flip the switch on your magical wand. Voila! The moment of truth! Your Disney wand is back to bubbling business lighting up your little one’s face.

Now you never have to worry about a drained battery spoiling your child’s fun, and you’ve saved yourself from constantly buying new bubble wands. So next time you visit Disneyland, remember, all that glitters is not just magic, but also, bubble wands!
