Many LED lightbulbs claim lifespans of 13+ years. Do they really last that long?

In most cases, no. The actual lifespan of an LED bulb is usually 4-6 years. Why the difference?

It comes down to how the bulbs are tested. Bulb makers only have to test the brightness of the bulb's LED.
