Every few years, a rumor spreads that Swiffer Wetjet cleaning solution contains antifreeze and is unsafe for pets.

Good news: The ASPCA, Consumer Reports and McGill University all say that the rumor is untrue, and the Wetjet is safe for pets.

Why are people getting confused? It has to do with Swiffer's ingredient list.

Wetjet cleaning solution contains Propylene Glycol, which sounds similar to the ethylene glycol in antifreeze.

Even though they sound similar, they are totally different chemicals. When used as directed, Swiffer's Propylene Glycol is safe.
